I was in born and raised in Baltimore, MD, part of an all Italian family. Growing up, my Italian heritage influenced me greatly, with trips to Rome and Naples, and family members visiting from Italy. I was always surrounded by Italian art. My family is also very artistic, and I too decided to pursue the arts.
In 2007, I received my BFA from The Cooper Union in New York City. I studied a wide range of classical and non-traditional art techniques and disciplines, including drawing, painting, printmaking, and photography, with a concentration in sculpture. Within sculpture, I’ve worked with a variety of materials, but have focused on wood and metal.
My art continued to develop last year, as I moved for one year to Madrid, Spain. The opportunity to work and travel throughout Europe and Morocco has been invaluable in my growth as an artist. There is a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to be found in this part of the world. Between the tiles on building facades in Lisbon, the tannery and mosques in Fes, and the gorgeous cathedrals and monuments around Spain, everywhere I’ve gone has provided surprises in materials and design. I have now been exposed to more styles and cultures that have already begun to influence my artwork.
My work is also greatly influenced by classical artistic traditions, especially sacred art.
I returned from Spain in July, and currently make art in the Baltimore/Washington DC area.
