MISTER LYNCH
CHRISTOPHER M. LYNCH ( b.1975 – d. not yet)

New York based photographer and art director, Christopher Lynch’s body of work is reflective of the artist’s technical expertise and extensive professional work in the field of photography as well as keen eye for dramatic, tight compositions. In the industry, Lynch, who is also known commercially under the moniker MISTER LYNCH, is known as a master of every trick and tool of the trade when working on commercial sets while simultaneously pursuing prolific personal projects, such as The Newfounds series, which culminated in a residency at The Museum of Arts and Design, New York. MISTER LYNCH is a sought-after conceptual photographer as well as an accomplished commercial director with a studio space in the historic West Chelsea Arts Building, leading a production team that has shot work in over 19 countries and nearly every state in the US.

Lynch grew up in Ellsworth, a small town with a tight-knit community in Maine (pop. 3,000). In the 80s, when the state eliminated the arts budget in schools, the community banded together to create a committee that provided free arts education classes for children, providing Lynch and his classmates with a unique early arts education. By High School Lynch was exploring new ways of expressing his creativity. This included converting an unused janitor’s closet at his high school into a darkroom. This small darkroom was the very beginning of the MISTER LYNCH brand and identity, and it was here where he taught himself to develop and print his first images.

Lynch’s passion for exploring new subject matter led him to a burgeoning career in documenting the music scene, bringing him to New York City. By age 18, Lynch had already photographed many famous faces including David Bowie, REM, Simple Minds, The Grateful Dead, Blues Traveler, Black 47, Ziggy Marley, Henry Rollins among many others. By 19, while living in Rome, Lynch would add another rock star to his list of clients, Pope John Paul II and The Vatican.

At this point, Young & Rubicam, one of the world’s leading advertising agencies, took notice of his work, leading to an invitation to design and run a photo studio for their worldwide headquarters in New York. Here he spent 5 formative years collaborating with some of the industry’s top creative talent creating campaigns for clients such as Citibank, AT&T, The Bronx Zoo.

Outside of photography, Lynch has also shot biopics and short films on a variety of subjects. Lynch’s visual sensibilities combined with his team’s production capabilities have led him to projects with Nickelodeon, Sony, the NFL, Bud Light, GAF, and even the Jamaican Bobsled team. His work can be seen in numerous private collections around the world and has been exhibited widely in both galleries as well as museums, most recently as part of a special project at The Oculus at The World Trade Center. His surreal photographic series, The Newfounds, garnered him a coveted Artist in Residency title at the historical Museum of Arts and Design NY. Other accolades include being hand-selected by Sony to be one of the first 40 Sony Artisans of Imagery and being recently named “The Best of The Best” by the internationally recognized One EyeLand organization. His timeless images of serene dancers frozen in a moment in the streets of New York City have been exhibited at The Alvin Ailey Dance Center, agnés b, Lladro, and were featured as part of Macy’s holiday window display. An image from the series featured in the New York Times Arts section was noted as “The first time we ever printed a dance company image shot on location, and not on stage or in studio”.

Lynch is an active and sought-after commercial photographer and director, currently lives in New York City, with a production office, showroom, and studio in West Chelsea.
