MaryKate Maher was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2008, received an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2004, graduated Dean’s list with a BFA in Painting from Arcadia University in 2001, and also studied at the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland from 1999-2000. She was a nominee for the Joan Mitchell Foundation grant in 2004, was a recipient of The MacDowell Colony Fellowship and MacArthur Travel Stipend in 2006. She has received fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center, the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and the Henry Street Settlement Abrons Art Center in New York City. Her work has been exhibited most recently with Union Gallery, New York City, Factory Fresh, Brooklyn, NY, and Taktkunstprojektraum, Berlin Germany. MaryKate has spoken about her work at the Bruce High Quality Foundation University in New York City, the D.u.m.b.o. Arts Center in Brooklyn NY and at the L.M.C.C Artist Summer Institute, New York City. Upcoming exhibitions include Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens, NY; Nurture Art, Brooklyn, NY and Espacio Exhibe, Lima, Peru.
