My interest in photography dates back to university days when I served as a sports photographer. As a US National Academy of Science Senior Science Adviser and Jefferson Science Fellow (2013-2014)at the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, I had the honor of serving both in Washington in the Office of Economic Policy, and as an Embassy Science Fellow in Canberra and Melbourne, Australia. My work attempts to convey the very human and allegorical lives of large primates in captivity. Well designed and maintained zoological parks are special homes to special animals. It is my hope that my photography will both challenge traditional attitudes we have towards animals and inspire through recognition of their fundamental strength, majesty and resilience.
