Ton saw his first daylight in Vreeswijk, the Netherlands. Ton always wanted to be an artist since his teens. He went to the Lyceum in Graphic Arts in Utrecht, the Netherlands but found out he didn’t like it. Disappointed he went to the equivalent of a high school in the Netherlands. After various jobs and doing the MTS for Photography in The Hague for 2 years, he decided to go for a long trip with his wife. The destination was the USA.
When he came back a year later, he decided to be his own boss and started a silk screen company printing t-shirts and fashion clothing for fashion wholesalers, fashion chain store retailers, rock shirt merchandisers and the like. In his spare time he made pointillist portraits for family and friends but soon he was too busy with doing business. There were enough creative challenges for him to crave his needs.
He went back to the Lyceum in Graphic Arts to follow courses in Graphic Design in the evening hours. Also he took portrait-drawing lessons during weekends. After moving to the Caribbean in 2004 he met some artists and it came clear to him he needed to start painting seriously and such happened since 2009.
His work has been shown in various group exhibitions in the Fusions Galleries in Miami and in a solo exhibition in Kas di Kultura in The Netherlands Antilles in July 2011 and a shared exhibition in The Herberg in the Netherlands Antilles in 2012.
The year 2013 was a sabbatical year in which he traveled Mexico. Now he is painting again.
in 2014 Ton started creating new abstract realistic portraits of models, celebrities etc. and had his works shown in the art gallery of Morres in Hulst, the Netherlands.
