I endeavor to achieve a synthesis of heart, music, and technology in my work. it is my intent to create poetic images that are “orchid-room friends” for the viewer. An “orchid-room friend” is one who has a positive and comforting influence. As a digital artist I use a computer and software as the primary tools in the creative realization of my vision. I use the mouse firsthand as my brush. Here the challenge is two-fold: first, to create an aesthetic image; second, and more challenging and characteristic of my work, is to achieve something both organic and expressive out of something inorganic. My aim is to achieve a painterly quality.
I don’t only rely on the software to achieve my desired affects. I sometimes use organic substances: bits of found things such as tree bark and leaves, shells and wasp hives, which I scan in to add texture and dimension to my work.
My formal training is in music. I took my degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. Life, I am learning in degrees through Buddhism. These two disciplines are integrated into my work, informing its lyricism and heart. I have always worked in the arts, either creating, or supporting other artists.
My works can be found in collections in the United States, Europe and Japan. My work has been on display in museums, national juried competitions, and solo and group shows, and in galleries.
