My way of art practice is a combination of humanities and fine art according to Old Masters tradition and modern tendencies of the dialogue between aesthetics and anthropology.
I am developing art projects, researching art techniques, ideas, history and philosophy of art during the last ten years of my life. During this time I was searching for the deep reasons of art and aesthetics and have organized all of these ideas during my study of the craft of academic research in Humanities during the last four years. Now I am working on implementing the academic argumentation craft into artistic research. To combine those two I use the symbols from early emblematic books of Alciatus and the structure of the Mnemosyne Atlas of Aby Warburg together with such traditional techniques of art as painting with oil colors on canvas covered with natural Italian gesso and Rubens style imprimaturs.
Since 2010 I studied art theory and practice in Ukraine, Poland and Germany, organized exhibitions, attended conferences in Paris and Sankt-Petersburg as also taught the courses in private art school in Cologne (Germany) and assisted artists in Warsaw and New York. Since 2016 I attended Columbia College Liberal Arts program (BA) at the University of Warsaw (Poland) trying to form my artistic ideas and vision by making research on different topics as Theology, Anthropology, Management and Classics. In my Bachelor thesis, I provided an iconographic analysis of XV century Icon (Yaroslavskaya Mother of God with saints and feasts), explaining the theological and historical background of each element of this artwork. In September 2019 I’ve got a grant from the EU to study at Pace University (New York) where I started my artistic research on the iconography of Orphean myth and as a result, I created a painting and video installation which was presented in the gallery of Pace University. I will continue the theoretical part of this project as independent research at Columbia University to compile a good fundament for my further artistic activity.
