About me
I’m an oil painter with an abstracted realistic style, and a strong colorful palette. My main subjects are wildlife and the fusion of humans in nature. I want to make you aware of the beauty around you so to inspire you to preserve and love the natural world. I paint so I can make you feel alive, be in the present, feel wonder and love.
I’ve always been fascinated by Life’s evolution and Earth’s geological changes, and I'm very grateful to live in a time when we start
to understand that awareness, consciousness and intelligence have different ways to manifest in different life forms. I hope that my canvases help you look at the world from perspectives others than purely human.
Bio:
Rebeca Fuchs (né Rebeca Calvo) was born in Madrid, Spain, where she graduated from ‘Universidad Complutense de Madrid’ with a BA in Fine Arts, and an MA in Furnishing Design. For almost two decades, she developed a successful professional career as furniture designer, creating numerous collections and working in both boutique and major hotel projects, such as Aman Resorts, Four Seasons, Como Hotels, Starwood Group, Hilton and many others.
During her career in the hospitality industry, Rebeca worked and lived in Spain, Italy, Indonesia and the US, experiences which enriched her both professionally and as a human being. She attended drawing and painting workshops at the New York Academy of Art and other venues, starting to combine art and design projects; after motherhood, she decided to channel all her creativity into painting.
Her saturated, bright and strong color palette is reminiscent of Spain, while rich texture and patterns remind you of tropical landscapes.
She loves variations, between soft and detailed to playful and thick brush strokes, shapes that move from the figurative and realistic, to the imaginary and abstract, representing the union between Nature and Humans.
