I have always been inspired by the beauty, diversity, and capriciousness of the natural world. Mosaic is an appealing medium to me because it combines the form and texture of sculpture with the brilliant colors of glass, tile, and paint.

My mother taught elementary art, so growing up, I always had new materials to experiment with. I think this instilled in me an impetus to always have some creative process in my life. I studied art at the College of Wooster, but did not pursue the field intensively until I began working with mosaics several years ago after being inspired by a gift of a huge pile of cast-off tiles. I bought a book on mosaics and started experimenting. As I became more familiar with various types of materials and techniques, my skill improved, and I soon obtained my first commission. I have since created tabletops, cornices, wall treatments, murals, floor inserts, sculptures and other mosaic art features. I especially enjoy incorporating recycled materials and found objects into my work.

I have exhibited work at ArtCenter Sarasota, Florida West Arts in Estero, and the Sweet Art Gallery in Naples. Currently my work may be seen at the Clair Mitchell Gallery in Towles Court and The Baobab Tree Gallery in the Village of the Arts in Bradenton.
