Sandra Allain was born in Bogota, Colombia and became a permanent resident to the U.S. (Illinois) in September 2013, where she lives with her husband and three children.
She creates abstract paintings and collages inspired by words, reflections, poems and the imbalance of society. She has worked with pastels, watercolor, ceramic, porcelain and acrylic at different stages in her life, experience that has influenced her preferred techniques.
Her medium of choice is acrylic, she uses mixed media to enhance texture and flow and create imagery. The use of bronze and gold on most of her paintings gives warmth to her pieces and an increased contrast between highlights and shadows, a glow which characterizes her work and personality.
Sandra Allain will be featured in the juried group shows: "Science & Art" at Arterie Fine Arts in Naperville, IL from September 2 through September 30th, 2014; the Fresh Art 2014 national fine art juried show at the Marin Society of Artists Gallery in Ross, CA from September 13th - October 12th, 2014 and at the Voices and Visions IV: Standing on the Bridge between Health and Disease exhibition at The Art Center - Highland Park, Illinois from September 5th - October 25th.
Each painting is done in one sitting, each painting is her poem.
