Most recently I’ve been making pattern paintings on paper with non-traditional shapes. For three years before that, I was painting patterns over portraits on paper, with oil paint, and then making unique creative places (framing) for each piece. The patterns reflect my continued exploration of movement. The patterns also give the portrait a psychological vail with which to see fresh aspects in the character of the person.
Over a lifetime I have invented technologies for manipulating the mediums that intrigue me in order to create unexpected form and imagery. My work with light and mirrors makes the inventive and unimagined, excitingly real.
