Thom Priemon

Thom Priemon, born in Philadelphia in 1947 and studied at the Philadelphia College of Art from 1974 thru 1976. He then studied painting methods and materials privately with Francis Cortland Tucker from 1978 thru 1980. The artist also worked for 10 years throughout the 1980's with hand printed lithographs, collaborating with such impotant lithographers like George Miller and Sons in New York and Timothy Sheesley a Tamarind Master Printer before returning back to encaustic painting in the 1990's. His encaustic landscapes ane still life paintings were presented in a one man exhibition at the Woodmere Art Museums in mid 1990's and a selection of his still life encaustic paintings were on view at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Gallery all thru the 1990's. The artist has lectured on The Art of Encaustic's at the Woodmere Art Museum as well as the South Jersey Artist Association. In the 80's won a gold medal in a publishing and book making expo at DREXEL University Gallery. His work was up against the major book publishing firms of NYC. Represented by Suzanne Brown Gallery in the 90's....various group exhibits throughout the U.S from 1980 thru 2000.....His works are in Department of Defense, Woodmere Art Museum, Smith Kline, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, 2014 and 15 exhibited his encaustics in Times Square NYC on Nasdaq digital board and the length of a 200 story building on Times Square NYC.
Will be represented in July 2015 in Paris France at The Louvre. A full color book was published in 2010 on the artist encaustic portraits titled "Encaustic Portraits by T.E. Priemon".
