Allison Pasarew graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2002 with a concentration in sculpture. For five years she lived and worked in the Detroit, Michigan area, developing abstract sculptures that incorporate obsolete mechanical parts. These sculptures have been called “time lines”, “pop-surrealism” and an “ode to the obsolete.” Since her return to Baltimore from Detroit, she has been working on mixed media drawings that range from representational to abstract and focus on the beauty of the mechanical objects found in her sculptures. These drawings are a body of work in their own right, yet are now a part of her ongoing project "Expanded Formats."
