Meghan Borah is an artist working and living in Chicago, IL. With subject matter inspired by urban fashionistas, experiences in women's restrooms, personal beauty regimens, time spent in high heels, 1960s girl groups, and disco culture, her work is a continual exploration of the female figure in context. At the core of her work is an ongoing interest in the relationship between theatre and everyday life; the feeling of constantly being on stage. Her work celebrates the power that comes with crafting variable feminine facades, yet acknowledges the inherent vulnerability in seeking unattainable states. She works from a variety of sources extracted from fashion magazines, textile patterns, paintings, illustrations, as well as her sketchbook.
