Chicago based artist, Allison Svoboda is recognized for her sculptural installations and paintings. Finding the edge between intuitive and deliberate mark making, Allison’s work is a meditation on our natural environment. Her sumi-e collage works are intricate paintings layered to create sculptural works. These paintings, based on fractal geometry, are also translated into large-scale works on metal, glass and industrial fabric. In 2015, she received a fellowship to study Zen and calligraphy in Japan, which continues to influence her work. Her public art installations have been featured in such places as Nashville International Airport, Chicago’s Prudential and North Center Plazas, Abu Dhabi Ritz Carlton and Dubai Hilton. The most recent body of work, ‘wave to wave in search of water’ produced during the pandemic on the shores of her beloved Lake Michigan, has been shown in Chicago and San Francisco.
