Anna George is a New England-born painter and former sculptor who has worked as a professional artist for decades. She also offers classes and workshops for painters using oils and acrylics.
She first painted and sold from a shared studio in Berkeley, then from large, solo studio through the ’90s. Anna exhibited large acrylics on canvas from San Francisco to Lincoln Center. Long hours provided a livelihood; her pieces live in collections in twelve countries.
"In the early yeara I knew exactly where a painting resided after leaving me. And that was enough--no need to know where a painting goes from there, though it’s a piece of my spirit, and comforting to imagine it ‘at home’ in its next environment. It’s sometimes very interesting to find out, however, where a piece goes next if it moves on. ”
Anna also initiated in 2012 an ongoing Soiree des Artistes series wherein artists in her community, invited to show in a solo exhibit, sit in conversation with Anna before a live audience to discuss their art and its processes. Currently Anna works in oils and in large-format acrylics. Experimenting in diverse styles makes her happy. She says she wouldn’t have it any other way.
