Ava Cosey, a gifted, talented artist and printmaker. Born in the Mississippi Delta now resides in Houston, Texas.
In April 1997, for the first time in her life – had an epiphany that commandeered her to the development of a remarkable talent. She experienced a restless urge to give form to that vision; and, uses the canvas and paint to express her experiences. This talent has catapulted to unforeseen heights
She particularly enjoys creating monoprints, silkscreens, designing fabric on the canvas, sculpting, molding, and history-telling themes. The essence of her very soul is exhibited in her collection. The vibrant colors and the majestic poses she captures on canvas stimulate a feeling of excitement in the viewer. Cosey is comfortable with unlimited mediums; however, oil is her major focus. The warmth and originality of her work draws one into her realm.
Her work has been featured on local television and in publications. She has exhibited nationally and her work is in the Kinsey Collection. The Texas Commission on the Arts recently nominated Cosey to Texas State Artist. She donates to charitable causes.
