Michael Berube was born in Endicott, New York. He holds an associates degree in commercial art from Bryant & Stratton, a BFA in studio art from Hunter College, NYC, and an MFA in studio art with a concentration in painting from Hunter College, NYC. He was the 2010 Hunter College nominee for the Joan Mitchell Graduate Studies Award as well as recipient of many other awards including a Graf Travel Grant to study the art of the Baroque in Italy, the Tom Woods Art Award, the Sommerville Art Prize, and more. In the 1980's he was mainly involved in the performing arts including music and in 1987 he released a 12-inch dance record on Dream Records under the performing name of Michael London. The record reached 27 on the HNRG Dance Charts and is now something of a collector's item. He was active in the performing arts scene of what is now known as the East Village in NYC, working with some of the best known performers, troupes, and directors of the 1980s. He returned to visual arts in 1998 and has been actively pursing that creative outlet professionally since then. He has had numerous exhibitions of his work throughout the northeast and will be mounting a solo exhibition at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance in Narrowsburg, NY in August of 2012.
