My name is Cassia Maia.I am a silk painting fine art artist. I was born in Brazil - Minas Gerais.My mother was a teacher and a talented seamstress. I learned at very early age all kind of handcrafts.I studied to become a Bachelor in Tourism and had scholarship at Alliance Francaise.I went to Design School of MG - Brazil.I began my journey in silk painting, in 1986, when I worked for Club Med in Brazil, France, Tunisia, Spain, Marroco, Turkey.In 1993 I went back to Brazil and opened my own silk painting studio. With a very skilled seamstress(my mother), I unveiled my boutique with many creative garments and accessories hand painted on silk. I became not just a fashion designer on silk painting, but an artist with a wide range of creative manifestations in that medium and I am popular among a wide audience with my unusual and memorable original and artistic solutions.There is much on the planet to admire and more to express that can ever be said. To be fortunate enough to work from the heart and have visions that are beyond being realized is to be fully blessed.
Since 1998 I live on Cape Cod(USA). I went to Harvard Institute for English Language Programs to learn English as my third language.I became a US citizen and I kept my Brazilian identity as well.In USA I had all the opportunities through many creative phases with this sensuous and formidable art: art shows,street fairs,festivals,fashion shows,art galleries, teaching... seems like I have done it all. I work from my studio at home creating fine art paintings,scarves, wraps, room dividers,cards, silk jewelry and feminine garments.
