A retired ophthalmologist. Past Director of Ophthalmology at NYU Downtown Hospital. Founder of the National Glaucoma Trust which merged with The Glaucoma Foundation. After a long career as an eye surgeon and researcher in ocular anatomy and the physiology of vision, Charles turned his practiced eye to seeing color in the world around him into his paintings.
Through his understanding of the visual spectrum he continues to explore a variety of styles and hues incorporating aspects of historically loved works such as those of Kandinsky, Gauguin and the Impressionists.
Charles often incorporates into his art scenes from his travels about the United States, particularly the surrounding environments of his residences in Florida and Connecticut.
