Claire Passmore

Claire trained as a Primary School teacher and taught children and student teachers for many years in the United Kingdom and Poland. Whilst living in South Africa she worked as a volunteer teaching literacy and basic numeracy to refugees from many central African countries. She now fills her days experimenting with cloth, thread, dye and paint and has been making quilts and other textile art since that time. Not wanting to completely give up teaching she regularly holds workshops for quilters here in the UK and overseas. In 2015 wrote her first book, 'Quilting Originals', which aims to help people develop strategies to design and make their own original work.

Claire is strongly influenced by matters of social conscience and this often influences the subjects she chooses for her quilts. She exhibits widely in the UK and internationally and is a member of a number of textile groups in the UK and overseas.
