Joseph Boblick

My studio practice includes traditional fresco painting, oil painting and sculpture. I make clay portraits and develop them as concrete, plaster, and glass forms through mold-making processes. I place my concrete figures in public installations where homeless people cross paths with more fortunate residents. Placed insightfully, my concrete figures initially trigger a response from viewers, as if they are sensing another person. Recently I’ve installed a sculpture, “Mother and Child, Livin’ In the Street,” in front of the Niederkorn Library in Port Washington, Wisconsin, in observation of National Homeless Persons Memorial Day. In Spring of 2022, I was awarded third prize at the TMA Contemporary Exhibit. My studio work in paint is focused on still life topics centered on food and death.
