Willie Mae Brown was born n the historical city of Selma Alabama and moved to Brooklyn NY in 1970 to visit her oldest sister and decided to stay. She gained employment at the New York Telephone company, which provided and income for many years and paid for part of her education in courses in writing at St. Francis college, Baruch College, and Columbia university. After leaving her position at the communications giant, she continued to write, never publishing any of her works, yet steadfast in publishing a completed work by October 2014. (she paints in the abstract). Her first show sold well and she started to build inventory which quickly vanished. Friends and family first bought her works, then word of mouth sent others, and the offer of shows came, resulting in many venues and may sales. " I have been surprised by my work as a self taught artist. It has proven to be a wise choice to allow the natural ability as an artist to sow in my work. My aim is to provide affordable original and quality works of art to grace the homes of as many people as possible and to provide joy, peace and happiness to all who own and view these live paintings..
