Helen Ziga

Helen Ziga received a BA from Albright College and an MFA from Ohio University. As the child of a Hungarian mother and a Slovak-American father, she grew up loving literature, nature and science. These interests led her to attend local art programs in high school and formally continue her studies through her mid-20s.
Helen has exhibited both regionally and nationally. She has participated in group and solo exhibitions at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, ARC Gallery in Chicago, the Dairy Barn in Athens, OH, and the Abington Art Center outside Philadelphia, among others. She also belonged to Zone One Gallery, an established artist cooperative located in the Philadelphia Olde City arts district.
Helen also served as gallery chair at the Art Institute of Atlanta Gallery, worked at and now volunteers for the the Hambidge Center for the Arts and Sciences.As a textile and graphic designer she traveled extensively, including Hangzhou, China and Taichung City, Taiwan.
In early 2022 she decided to focus her attention entirely to art making and made a creative home at the Urban Art Collective in Chamblee, GA. She likes to create wherever she is and has worked in England and the Georgia coast. She recently completed an artist residency at South Porch Artists Residency in June 2024. Based in Atlanta, she lives with her husband Chris, her son Lewis and their cat Daisy.
