Documentary fine art photographer JAWiley captures simple, evocative and affecting images… moments that might otherwise get lost in the hectic shuffle of everyday life.
Born in Kittery, Maine and raised in North Carolina by a long line of avid amateur photographers and adventurous women, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
She spent a few years modeling before returning to her roots. She quit her job of 13 ¾ years in TV news late in 2007 to pursue her love of photography full-time. She also teaches photography courses at the Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film in Charlotte, NC.
