Jan Ross

Jan Ross began her formal art studies at the Chicago Academy of Art, continued studying while living in Europe for 7 years, and has studied under nationally and internationally recognized watercolor masters including: Mel Stabin, Judi Betts, John Salminen, Mary Whyte, Jan Kunz, Arne Westerman and others. Jan has earned her 'Signature Membership' the highest level of recognition for a watercolor artist, in 7 Societies as well as her 'Member of Excellence' in the Atlanta Artists Center, the largest art association in the Southeastern U.S. She has travelled to 26 countries during her lifetime. Her work has been accepted/exhibited in over 400 juried/invitational/solo exhibitions in museums and galleries in 42 states and across Europe. Jan's award-winning work is included in many private collections from California to Kirkuk, Iraq. The ' International publications, 'The Chronicle of the Horse', and 'Watercolor Studio' have featured Jan's work on their covers. Her work has been featured in numerous publications. Jan's focus for the past 20 years has been on watercolor portraiture, capturing the unique personalities, costume and cultural elements pertaining to people of a variety of nationalities, races, creeds and ages. Jan's utilizes transparent watercolor with the approach of many glazes or layers to create deep and vibrant colors. Jan is a skilled instructor of both adults and children, whom she enjoys sharing her life experiences and skill.
