Juri Morioka

Juri Morioka is a Tokyo born painter who came to the US for the first time as an exchange student in Ohio, and currently lives in New York City. She received her BFA in Painting from Parsons School of Design, and has had solo shows in New York City; Portland, Oregon; Tokyo; Kumamoto, Japan; Dubai; and a two-person show in Abu Dhabi. She has participated in group shows with New York City galleries and in overseas galleries in Basel, Switzerland, Dubai, Damascus, and Paros, Greece, and Tokyo. She has been invited to lectures at various institutes in the USA and UAE.

Morioka has received grants from The Golden Foundation, The Ruth Chenven Foundation, The Puffin Foundation, The Institute for Civil Society, and the Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation, along with a chashama artist-in-residence subsidized studio space grant, and a full-fellowship residency at the Vermont Studio Center.
