Krys Pettit uses lyrical realism with a strong abstract quality to paint fleeting moments in time.
Her work covers the range of subject matter from still life to figurative. Her passion is the observation of the hidden but extraordinary moments in life.
Krys works with two very distinct and separate mediums – oil paint and watercolor paint. She is inspired by the vibrant transparency of watercolor, the delicacy and lyricism and how it reacts with paper and water. She embraces the classical aspects of oil painting and the visceral way textures and strong brush strokes interact with colors, light and dark, to create a unique image.
Krys's paintings were chosen in a statewide competition for “The Art of Georgia IV,” displayed in the Georgia State Capitol and the Georgia Governor's Mansion August 2023 through July 2024.
