Kath Schifano paints outdoors capturing weather and changing light in all seasons and conditions with pastels and oil paints. Her plein air and studio work is collected in 17 states and several countries. A member of International Plein Air Painters, Buffalo Niagara Painters Association and Niagara Frontier Plein Air Painters, her paintings are exhibited in a variety of national juried shows and solo exhibits. Formerly an art instructor in Niagara Falls schools, her paintings often feature the Niagara River as well as the wateralls and details of the rocks, waves and gorge. Inspired by nature, she also paints dramatic close up botanical images that bring the viewer close enough to see designs and patterns in nature that would ordinarily be bypassed. These include flowers, fruit and vegetables, water and trees, utilizing brilliant color and interesting viewpoints.
