Maggie Tobin

Maggie Tobin is a practicing artist, community organizer, and art educator in NYC. Besides teaching traditional painting and drawing techniques, she has also developed innovative courses such as Global Collaborations, Art for Social Change, Journaling into Mindfulness, Move Over Leonardo (where art and science intersect), and Tinkering (electronics in art). Her recent work incorporates interactive components and ambient solar-powered light that transforms the image in the painting when motion by the viewer is detected. The work addresses the global need for integrating alternative energy sources to preserve our beautiful earth.
Maggie received her BFA from the U. of Colorado, Boulder, her MFA from Queens College, City University of New York, and a Diploma in Painting from the Scuola di Lorenzo de' Medici in Florence, Italy. She recently presented on “Global Collaborations in the Classroom”, at the 2019 “Arts in Society” Conference in Lisbon, Portugal.
