Allison Malinsky (b. 1980, Canterbury, N.H., USA) lives and works in Barcelona Spain where she vehemently pushes further for answers to her philosophical inquiry of what it is to be human now. To do that she uses painting, her experiences, and what she likes to call the ¨visual transcription of the everyday. ? What movements do we make and what do they say, how do we move through the day today, yesterday and tomorrow, how do we co-exist. She listens to and learns patterns of rhythm, movement in others in combination with the landscape (female) inside her and around.
She moved to Barcelona after fifteen years of living in New York City, exhibiting her work and earning both her undergraduate degree in Studio Art (2002), and later her Masters in Art (2008), both from New York University. Showing internationally, she first exhibited her three-dimensional voluminous paintings in her solo show called ¨Proper Part of the Whole¨ at Galería Victor Saavedra (Barcelona, 2016). The exhibition was followed by a catalog under the same title. She was awarded the Cooper Union School Artist Residency in New York City (2016) and in 2017 was awarded the Vermont Studio Center Painting Fellowship Award.
