Marek Danielewski

Born in Warsaw, Poland. Have lived in Poland and Sweden in early life due to Polish occupation. Moved to the US in 1993. Graduated School of Visual Arts in New York with BA in Illustration. Has Masters of Fine Arts from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
Work consists of works on paper and mixed media.
I am married with a 3 year old daughter I currently live in Philadelphia. I am pursuing my art as well as art education.
I am fascinated with the internal- the mechanism of the body. I find that my interpretation of the human form is more interesting when drawn from a live model and built out of paper and parts of old drawings. This creates a decisive set of possibilities which is combined with found objects and materials. Due to the nature of the process the central narrative and composition are not preemptively determined. There is a notion of seclusion and isolation, that as an immigrant I always felt I lived in. A sense of eccentricity that leads one to develop particular rituals and personal visual cues that are then made tangible in my art.
I have had over 15 shows between Philadelphia and New York, and in PAFA permanent collection and MOMA book collection.
