MARIAH JOSEPHY

Formerly a painter and printmaker, Josephy moved into collages, assemblages and sculpture in the late 60s. Since then, she has worked in all these media, usually combining wood carving and construction with paint, hardware and other found objects. The work is usually somewhat surrealistic and refers to the tensions between nature and technology. She has shown widely in group and solo exhibitions, one of the latter is scheduled for spring, 2010. Served as President of Washington Sculptors Group 1996-2001.
