Exploring the subtle and not-so-subtle differences of form and shape, color and hue, my work is largely abstract with occasional hints of the “real.” My paintings, drawings, and prints are attuned to the rhythm of patterns and nuance of color. As a formally trained ballet dancer, I am drawn to the balance and chaos that is at the core of movement. My love of nature and wild spaces also informs my work. This sensitivity translates into my desire to look at the world, in all its complexity, and to break it down to its unique essence – time and space collapsed into two dimensions. Acrylic, Caran d'Ache crayons, graphite, collage, watercolor, wax, pen and ink, wood, paper and canvas are just some of my tools.

I began drawing and painting at a very young age, incorporating art into my daily life. Born in San Francisco, I grew up in the Bay Area (where I still live) in a bi-cultural household in which I frequently travelled to India and throughout Asia. Consequently my art transcends borders, incorporating colors and images from both sides of the world. Growing up I was able to transition seamlessly from one culture to another. My artwork does the same – being at once expansive and personal.

I worked in the environmental field for over sixteen years. Currently an elementary school teacher, I integrate art into the classroom whenever possible. In addition, I am a Commission Representative on the City of Berkeley's Civic Arts Commission. I have a B.A. in History, a Master of Arts in American Studies (diaspora and cultural memory), and a Master of Education.
