Over the course of the last year, I came to terms with what I now realize is my new reality. Accepting a reversal in my life circumstances was an emotional workout. I use my time in the studio as a safe escape where I am free to experience flights of fancy and leaps of faith without doubt or worry seeping in to play subliminal mind games. That the freeing nature of abstract art gives my life structure may seem somewhat incongruous, but I find great comfort in what I think of as the art of organized abstraction. It appeals to my innate sense of order. When I am in the studio, I am living in the present. And these paintings are not just a current lifeline...they are also my future legacy.
