Charlie Swerdlow is a painter, illustrator, concept artist, graphic designer, musician, and writer from Maine. He sells works of fine art, prints, and books, and is available for commissions and collaborations.
He began his career with a focus on illustrating sites & scenes from throughout world history. He collected these in the book Historic Sites & Scenes Reconstructed. His main focus from 2016-2018 was the Travel Symphony series. In these works he explored the nexus of memory and experience, by combining many places, events, and historic imaginings from his travels into each elaborate composition. In 2019 he began experimenting with sculptural canvases. In 2020 he published an illustrated book of poetry, Lowland Glow.
Swerdlow has a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in illustration, with a minor in Art History. He has worked at galleries and museums, and exhibited at galleries, fairs, and festivals throughout New England.
