I typically work in an abstract or semi-abstract style, using a wide variety of media to create imagery. In my painting process, I follow an inner narrative as I engage my surfaces with encaustic paint, dammar varnish, cold wax medium and oil paint, along with a variety of mark making materials. I use combinations of porous substrate materials including handmade paper, clay bisque, wood and found objects in deep relief or sculptural form.
Through a focus on the intersection of form/shape and a question or issue, I examine assumptions in order to comprehend the spirit and mysterious energy underlying (my) life on the planet.
