Amy E. Buckler (b. 1989, Killeen, TX) graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art and received her BFA in Drawing. Her paintings are abstract focusing on the interaction of color, material and shapes. The paintings often reflect her memories as a child and from her new experiences. Most of her childhood experiences come from growing up on a dairy farm in Maryland. She traveled to Nepal last summer and had a number of studio visits, Artist lectures, and painting workshops. In Nepal she realized the impact of natural color and now finds instances in Maryland where color unites harmoniously. Also in Nepal she had a group exhibition called Yogdan which she helped organize and publicize at Fusion Gallery. Amy has been receiving Grants from MICA and been on the Deans list for every semester. She also received MICA's Competitive Scholarship in 2010. Her current goal is to go back to Nepal on a Fulbright scholarship to study Paubha painting for ten months.
