Amy Englebrecht brings whimsy to life. Her paintings are characterized by bold use of color and highly gestural mixed media surfaces. Heavily influenced by Zen Buddhist philosophy, she employs a largely intuitive process, working out her pieces directly on the panels. This results in highly engaging works that invite the viewer to explore the art from varying distances and angles. She most enjoys creating the opportunity for her viewers to interpret and experience her art in their own ways, approaching it with open minds and curiosity, challenging resistance and beliefs of what the natural world has to offer in our increasingly urbanized and technology-driven lives.
