Allison Newsome

Allison Newsome , originally a Native Californian from the Redwoods of Santa Cruz, received her MFA at RISD in 1983. Newsome portrays through her sculpture how our human psyche is effected by the evolution of the landscape from the Wilderness to Agrarian to Industrial and Post Industrial. Allison has lectured and exhibited at the Chateau la Napoule and Salon National Beaux Artes in France In June 2014 Allison will be showing her work in Budapest at the Kartinty Szalon gallery. Allison teaches presently at both Harvard Ceramics and the SMFA in Boston. Over the years Allison has received several grants, A grant from the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts on the merit of her work and most recently, Boston's, St Botolph Club Artist Grant. October -Jan 2014 Allison had a one person exhibition at the Beatrice Wood Art Center in Ojai Calif and is presently curating an exhibition at the Blithewold Arboretum August 2014 Sculpture Embraces Horticulture, water wind and solar driven art. Allison 's work is represented by the Clark Gallery in Boston, Rosenfeld Gallery in Philadelphia and the Beatrice Wood Arts Center in Calif. Her work is in private and museum collections across the country including the RISD Museum, Newport Art Museum, Mobile Museum of Art, Biblioteca Benjamin Franklin, Mexico City,
