Amy Richardson is best known for using a mixed media process, involving silk-screening, traced monotype, painting, drawing, and collage, to create, dislocate, mutate, splice, and recombine images from the natural world to form entirely new environments that exist beyond the boundaries of nature. She depicts transformation by using space and forms on the picture plane in such a way that the viewer can perceive multiple environments within a piece, and from several vantage points, such as frontal, aerial, microscopic, and macroscopic. Richardson has exhibited her work throughout the United States and in publications, such as “New American Paintings” and “Studio Visit.” Born in Pennsylvania, Richardson attended Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where she received her BFA, and Illinois State University, where she received her MFA. Richardson also is an Adjunct Instructor of art at community colleges in Illinois.
