Andrea Belag

Andrea Belag’s paintings boast an intimacy despite their apparent speed. The path of pulling a cloth or paintbrush through transparent paint gives each painting emotional weight and the luminous depth of an interior space. There is depth to the paintings and complexity in the color language.

Andrea Belag received a Guggenheim Fellowship for Painting in 1999 and was a fellow at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Study Center in Italy in 2003. She is the recipient of the American Arts and Letter Purchase Price. Belag received a commission for artwork by the MTA Arts and Design. Recent exhibitions of paintings include: Inheritance, Morgan Lehman Gallery, NY, 2019; Beachcomber, Phillip Slein Gallery, St. Lois, MO, 2018; and Ghostwriter, Stephen Harvey Fine Art Projects, NY, 2017. She works on paintings and public commissions in her New York City and Far Rockaway studios.
