Contemporary art quilts that use color, fabric and the traditions of quilt making to create abstract landscapes of the prairies of Illinois where I grew up, the hills of western Massachusetts where I now live and vistas of my imagination. I have been supporting myself for 29 years making my quilts which are in museums, private and public collections and various gallery shows.
The quilts are made from tiny slivers of commercially available cotton fabric sewn through the cotton batting onto the back in blocks. The blocks are joined. All bindings are hand-finished with great care to the detail.
My work is in the collections of the American Museum of Art + Design, the People's Place Quilt Museum, The Lodge at Turning Stone in Verona, NY and Surdna Foundation in New York City. In 2008 I completed a series of quilts for the new Federal District Courthouse in Springfield, MA through the GSA's Art in Architecture Program. My quilts have been in the Art and Embassy Program in South Korea and Timor-Leste.
