As a quintessential self-taught artist of the fifties baby boomer generation, my passion for art solidified while being absorbed in 50's and 60's art history documentaries on television. I thought artists were like gods because they could create life. Growing up, I was only interested in stuff like paint, cardboard, string, glue and experimentation. Painting for me is a freedom from ritual and order to focus on the thing and being constantly attuned to the subconscious. As a career artist of the 70's, I have been drawn to the persistent human quest to know who are we, where are we from and why are we here. As such my interest in psychology, philosophy and theory carries into my work as well.
