Helen Bellaver

This series of work is in mixed media, acrylic on Arches 300 lb. cold press paper. I call this series of paintings "Endangered Clothing " This work is about our fascination with our clothing, old and new, discarded or claimed. I love black against muted colors, blues and grays and soft whites and my favorite red color. Stright and curved lines, rigid and flowing continue to inspire me. Many images in my work are often a language I cannot read. I feel these images are forms from my life experience or my own personal folklore. I believe conscious or unconscious story telling is what an artist does. Whether I work in painting, drawing or printmaking I continue to be inspired and fascinated by the journey. In my life making art is crucial and ongoing. It is the voyage that sustains me. It is what I do.
