Born in New York City, Ben Sloat is a graduate of UC Berkeley (BA '99) and Tufts/SMFA (MFA '05). Working in photography and multi media projects, Sloat has had solo exhibitions in Boston, New York City, Oakland, Taipei, and in Ireland. His work has been reviewed by the New York Times, Taipei Times, Boston Globe, and Oakland Tribune. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Taiwan in 2009, producing photographic and new media projects on Taiwan's cultural and developmental shifts in its rural areas.
Sloat teaches photography and new media at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. He has lectured about his work at RISD, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, SCAD, Coker College, UMass Boston, and National Taiwan University of the Arts.
