Dr. Beth Erez, a sculptor since 2001, was born and raised in New York City, immigrating to Israel in 1977. Beth works in a variety of media -- a variety of clays, wax, metal and shredded paper -- often casting in bronze or using a combination of bronze, other metals and wood. Many of her sculptures express movement such as a woman running, a man dancing, a high jumper, an athlete vaulting or a circus acrobat. Others express her feminine, maternal and family side. Of special interest is Beth’s use of found wood to create a menagerie of sculptures, each with a certain strength and with a twist of surprise -- a real or imaginary animal consisting of burnt logs and cast bronze or other materials for wings, feet, noses, tails and so on. Her work is found in collections worldwide.
