Bernard Katzeff (1937-2013)
Born in Brussels, Belgium.
In 1960 he graduated as Master Colorist from L'Oreal Laboratories where he worked on the development of new colors and shades in hair and cosmetics. A US citizen since 1974, he pursued a career in hairstyling and fashion in the United States where he received numerous awards. Bernard Katzeff was Artistic Director at Saks Fifth Avenue in Washington, D.C., for over 35 years, and served as stylist to "le tout Washington".
Upon his retirement in Naples, Florida, he joined the artists' scene. His paintings were exhibited numerous times at the Naples Art Association, where they received awards from artist Sam Gilliam,and Ned Rifkin, former Secretary of Art of the Smithsonian Institution and Chief Curator of the Hirshhorn Museum.
Georgetown University has his painting "Le Coquelicot",inspired by the poem of John McCrae "In Flanders Fields", as part of their permanent collection.
Ave Maria University has "The Three Crosses of Ave Maria" and "Jerusalem" in their permanent collection.
Three of his paintings are in the virtual museum of the National 911 Memorial.
In 2009 he had a solo exhibition of his works at the Collier County Public Library.
