A visual artist, Rachael Bohlander, originally from Detroit, MI, resides and works in Washington, D.C. Her art practice includes painting, collage and paper-based sculptural wall works.
Bohlander received an MFA from the New York Studio School, NYC, following which she was the Artist in Residence at the Studio School’s post-graduate sculpture residency in DUMBO Brooklyn. She additionally holds a BA from Washington University in St Louis and a JD from Tulane Law School, New Orleans, with a specialty in Environmental Law.
Bohlander is a FY24 and FY25 recipient of the Arts & Humanities Fellowship Program Grant through the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Committed to increasing public access to art and art education, Bohlander works with Sculpture Forum and the Jonathan and Barbara Silver Foundation to create discussion-based videos about sculptors, specific sculpture works and exhibitions, offered free to the public online.
Most recently, Bohlander’s work was featured in her solo show at the Arts Club of Washington D.C., January 2025. Her work has been included in solo and group shows in D.C. and the surrounding region, as well as New York, Miami and Seattle, and can be found in private collections throughout the U.S. and Canada. She has completed murals in Denver, CO and Apex, NC and contributed a large painting celebrating D.C. families at the D.C. Department of General Services.
