Carol Taylor-Kearney

As an artist I am a storyteller. That means that I closely observe to find that people, places, and things are what they are, but they can also be something more. I tend to think in words, so my life is rich in patterns and descriptors but poor on a defining point. This is very much like my artwork where I collect experiences, blend them with other interests, and then work it all out in a series of pieces meant to be observed together. These pieces rely on both classical art mediums and techniques along with unusual materials. The materials used are also a part of the message of the piece. My ability to make these mixtures comes from my education and involvement as an art teacher and curator. In my paintings, sculptures, and installations one can find allusions to children and childhood, notes of gameplay, and references toward both art history and Americana.
